A Keribar Photograph
BİR KERİBAR FOTOĞRAFI
The Izzet Keribar documentary is a portrait of a photographer who witnessed many important turning points in recent history, from World War II to the Korean War, from the events of September 6-7 to the 1980 coup…
His story is also a visual diary of Istanbul from the 1940s to the present day. A biography that reveals the political climate and sociological transformations of the era through the life of a Jewish family living in the triangle of Beyoğlu, Eminönü, and Büyükada… And a summary of recent history reflected in the microcosm of a small family…
Having traveled to over 70 countries with his camera but stating that he loves Turkey the most, Izzet Keribar, who never considered leaving Istanbul , and who has created a valuable memory of both Turkey and the world with nearly 2 million photographs, is still spending his 88th year working to pass on his experiences to young people, guided by the question, “How can I be useful to this country?”
“A Keribar Photograph” reflects the artist’s own narrative on screen, conveying to the viewer the traces of a life spent in pursuit of art and refinement, a journey from the stops of time to the future.
